About The Position

Application Engineer I Reporting to the Lead Application Engineer, Application Engineers play a critical role within our organization. They are responsible for the interpretation of customer specifications and power requirements. The Application Engineer I analyzes technical specifications and drawings to select the most appropriate G&W product for the application. Our custom engineering capabilities allow for creative solutions that allow us to satisfy nearly any application. An appreciation for deep technical knowledge of the product and application are needed to excel in this position as well as an equal balance of negotiation and relationship building skills As an Application Engineer I you will: Provide timely and effective verbal and written communication to our internal resources and Sales Organization Understand and follow all departmental policies and procedures Meet monthly team KPI targets Able to independently quote level 1 and 2 opportunities for primary product families. Able to quote level 1 and level 2 opportunities for secondary product families with support from higher level AEs Determine and document the technical and commercial requirements of the customers application Select the appropriate G&W product to meet these requirements Develop accurate cost models for both standard and custom equipment Determine price levels and lead times Partner with customers and our Engineering team to develop custom solutions that satisfy their needs Build and maintain strong relationships with our internal resources and Sales Organization Communicate these requirements to G&Ws internal teams for engineering and manufacturing When opportunities arise, travel with the Sales team to help deepen Applications understanding

Requirements

  • Holds a Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from four-year accredited college
  • Has strong computer proficiency
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills

Nice To Haves

  • A concentration in Power Engineering is highly desired
  • Ideally has experience with switchgear, reclosers, SF6 insulated and dielectric insulated switches

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely and effective verbal and written communication to our internal resources and Sales Organization

  • Able to quote level 1 and level 2 opportunities for secondary product families with support from higher level AEs
