The position is a co-op opportunity at Arconic Corporation, located in Lafayette, IN, which has been operational since 1938. The facility specializes in aluminum extrusions for various sectors including aerospace, automotive, industrial, and defense. The co-op program is designed for students currently enrolled at Purdue University in relevant engineering programs, providing hands-on experience in a real-world setting. Co-op associates will work alongside professionals, gaining practical skills and knowledge applicable to their future careers. The program requires students to alternate between semesters of education and full-time employment, allowing them to apply their academic learning to practical challenges in the workplace. Associates will be assigned a manager and a mentor, and will experience both office and manufacturing environments, contributing to projects that impact the business.

  • Coordinate material, product, and/or process qualifications per customer test plans
  • Support product and process development efforts on the manufacturing floor
  • Acquire and analyze production data to identify areas for change and improvement
  • Collaborate with commercial teams on reviewing new business opportunities
  • Must be currently enrolled at Purdue University with a Bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Materials Engineering, Aeronautics and Astronautics, or Aeronautical Engineering Technology
  • Minimum 1 year of engineering coursework completed (Must be at least an upcoming Sophomore)
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
  • 2+ years of engineering coursework completed
  • Experience with 2D/3D modeling software, AutoCAD/SolidWorks, or other applicable modeling software
  • 3.0 GPA and above
  • Hands-on learning experience
  • Opportunity to work alongside professionals in the field
