Georgia State University’s Instructional Innovation and Technology (IIT) division is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Application Developer, Intermediate to join our Application Solutions department. This role is a key point in the application development career path, offering opportunities to grow toward technical specialization or leadership. The position involves application support, requirements and systems analysis, programming, software testing, and project management for small to medium-sized projects. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical skills, sound judgment, and a commitment to client success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and two years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field and two to four years of application development experience, preferably in a higher education or enterprise environment.
  • Proficiency in application design, development, and testing.
  • Experience with Java and Grails programming languages and frameworks and strong knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Application Support: Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, including code fixes, patches, and performance anomalies.
  • Requirements & Systems Analysis: Analyze business processes, gather functional requirements, and translate them into detailed specifications.
  • Application Programming: Design, code, test, debug, and document software solutions.
  • Project Management: For small projects, develop project plans and schedules, coordinate resources and team activities, facilitate meetings, and reports status to stakeholders.
  • Communication: Participate in meetings and maintain regular communication with management and customers.
  • Collaborate with other technical teams to ensure integration and alignment across systems.
  • Prepare activity and status reports for assigned projects and tasks.
