This posting is for one position and will be filled as an Application Developer I, Application Developer II or Application Developer III depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience. The position is exempt and is part of the Information Technology department, reporting to the Manager of Application Development. The location is San Jose, CA. The salary ranges are as follows: Application Developer I - $83,243 - $124,864, Application Developer II - $95,729 - $143,594, Application Developer III - $107,930 - $167,292. Employees in this classification are represented by Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local No. 521.

  • Maintain existing and develop new applications to support organizational business needs.
  • Utilize data analysis techniques and queries to support internal business functions through the generation of reports.
  • Review existing processes and recommend new or improved solutions that increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Assess and troubleshoot production issues related to performance, data errors, and process failures.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, other developers, and business users through the project life cycle.
  • Actively participate in design reviews and provide input to ensure quality solutions are developed.
  • Follow the SCFHP Project Life Cycle, Software Development Coding Standards, and Change Control Management policies.
  • Create technical requirements based on review and analysis of requirement specifications.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent training/experience.
  • Application Developer I - One year of experience in application development.
  • Application Developer II - Minimum two years' experience in application development.
  • Application Developer III - Minimum four years' experience in application development.
  • Applicable software development certifications.
  • Application Developer I - Training or hands-on experience with SQL programming, MS SQL database development, and T-SQL query generation.
  • Application Developer II - Minimum one year of experience with SQL programming, MS SQL database development, and T-SQL query generation.
  • Application Developer III - Minimum three years' experience with SQL programming, MS SQL database development, and T-SQL query generation.
  • Application Developer I - Knowledge of MS SQL Business Intelligence tools (SSRS, SSIS, SSAS) or other enterprise business intelligence software.
  • Application Developer II - Minimum one year of experience with MS SQL Business Intelligence tools (SSRS, SSIS, SSAS) or other enterprise business intelligence software.
  • Application Developer III - Minimum three years' experience with MS SQL Business Intelligence tools (SSRS, SSIS, SSAS) or other enterprise business intelligence software.
  • Application Developer I - Knowledge of applicable languages/platforms: .NET, PERL, Java, SAS, VB, C++, or other modern programming language.
  • Application Developer II - One year of experience with applicable languages/platforms: .NET, PERL, Java, SAS, VB, C++, or other modern programming language.
  • Application Developer III - Three years' experience with applicable languages/platforms: .NET, PERL, Java, SAS, VB, C++, or other modern programming language.
  • Application Developer I - Knowledge of healthcare management information systems.
  • Application Developer II - Minimum one year of experience with healthcare management information systems.
  • Application Developer III - Minimum three years' experience with healthcare management information systems.
  • Knowledge of database concepts and data processes.
  • Ability to document code and processes.
  • Ability to create and follow technical specifications.
  • Ability to analyze data.
  • Application Developer III - Ability to create and restore database backups, performance monitoring and query tuning.
  • Knowledge of BizTalk, Sharepoint, ActiveBatch and other core integration tools and services.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Ability to use a keyboard with moderate speed and a high level of accuracy.
