We are seeking an experienced Oracle Exadata Database Administrator to manage and optimize enterprise-level Oracle databases in a high-performance environment. This role involves ensuring database reliability, scalability, and security through proactive monitoring, performance tuning, data lifecycle management, and resource optimization. The DBA will also support upgrades, migrations, and collaborate with infrastructure teams to maintain system integrity. You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week. Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience SQL tuning, execution plan analysis, and performance optimization
  • 5+ years of experience in Oracle Database Administration on Exadata platform
  • 5+ years of experience with Oracle Partitioning, statistics gathering, and data lifecycle management
  • 5+ years of experience with Oracle Resource Manager and workload throttling
  • 5+ years of RBAC frameworks, schema cloning, and migration activities
  • 5+ years of backup/recovery strategies and change management processes.
  • 5+ years of experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for monitoring and diagnostics
  • 5+ years of experience PL/SQL scripting for automation and maintenance tasks

Nice To Haves

  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Oracle Exadata certification
  • Experience in large-scale, high-availability environments
  • Data modeling experience for designing and optimizing database structures
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes and change management best practices
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional coordination
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail and adherence to compliance standards

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze long-running SQL queries; perform root cause analysis for performance issues.
  • Conduct regular database health checks and SQL performance assessments.
  • Profile SQL statements and optimize execution plans; pin efficient plans when necessary.
  • Maintain and refresh table and partition statistics for optimal performance.
  • Manage partitions: create, drop, analyze, and optimize for performance.
  • Implement data retention policies, archival, and purge strategies to ensure compliance and efficiency.
  • Execute data copy and refresh requests across environments.
  • Review and approve data remediation and change requests.
  • Perform backups and restore operations as part of change management processes.
  • Manage user roles and privileges, including granting access and unlocking accounts.
  • Modify or create role-based access control (RBAC) frameworks.
  • Handle password resets and ensure adherence to security policies.
  • Coordinate closely with Infrastructure DBAs for server-level and storage-related activities
  • Coordinate, configure and tune Oracle Resource Manager for workload optimization.
  • Address storage and resource allocation concerns during peak loads.
  • Perform schema cloning and related tasks for upgrades or migrations.
  • Ensure database changes are reviewed and approved through change management processes.
