About The Position

The Leidos Cybersecurity, Architecture, and Engineering (CAE) organization, within the Corporate Information Security Office (CISO), has an immediate opening for a motivated Application Cybersecurity Engineer. In this role, you will support application security activities for enterprise applications, cloud-hosted services, and AI-enabled or emerging technology solutions across Leidos. As a member of the Cybersecurity Architecture and Engineering team, you will work with internal customers, developers, engineers, architects, and vendors to help improve security practices for modern application environments. This role requires a foundation in application security, secure software delivery, cloud technologies, and effective cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate will be comfortable contributing to security reviews, evaluating solution risks, supporting technical discussions, and helping teams adopt modern technologies securely, including artificial intelligence capabilities. This position is well suited for a self-starter who can work independently on day-to-day objectives, communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and continue building skills in application security, AI security, and emerging technology risk.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 to 8 years of relevant experience in cybersecurity, application security, software development, data integration, data analytics, data engineering, or related technical disciplines.
  • Additional years of relevant experience, training, and/or professional certifications may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Experience in application cybersecurity, secure software development practices, or related secure solution delivery activities.
  • Experience working with cloud environments such as AWS or Azure.
  • Working knowledge of one or more scripting or programming languages such as Python, SQL, or JavaScript.
  • Experience with one or more of the following in enterprise environments: application development, data integration, data analytics, or data engineering.
  • Foundational knowledge of AI-enabled application patterns and associated security considerations, including familiarity with concepts such as large language models, retrieval augmented generation, or agentic workflows.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycles and modern delivery practices such as Agile or DevSecOps.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences and contribute in collaborative team environments.
  • Ability to support meetings, presentations, and customer-facing technical discussions.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and standards such as the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, NIST AI Risk Management Framework, NIST SP 800-171, and NIST SP 800-53.
  • Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and willingness to continue learning in the AI security and emerging technology space.

  • Experience supporting or assessing AI-enabled applications or emerging technology solutions in enterprise environments.
  • Hands-on experience with AI solution patterns such as agentic workflows, retrieval augmented generation, graph-based approaches, context engineering, or related concepts.
  • Experience participating in security design reviews, technical risk assessments, or architecture evaluations for enterprise applications or cloud-hosted solutions.
  • Experience with enterprise workflow, platform, or service management technologies such as ServiceNow.
  • Experience working with vendors, product teams, or third-party solution providers.
  • Experience working across multiple cloud service providers or with cloud-native security concepts.
  • Practical software development or scripting experience that strengthens collaboration with engineering teams and supports application security activities.
  • Experience producing technical analysis, written findings, or recommendations related to application security, AI security, or emerging technology risks.

Responsibilities

  • Support application cybersecurity efforts for enterprise applications and emerging technology initiatives at Leidos.
  • Participate in security design reviews, technical assessments, and architecture discussions for enterprise applications, cloud-hosted services, and AI-enabled solutions.
  • Collaborate with developers, engineers, architects, and stakeholders to identify and address security considerations in application integrations, enhancements, and deployments.
  • Provide input on security considerations for data flows, cloud services, and AI-enabled application patterns.
  • Support customer-facing meetings, presentations, and technical discussions with internal stakeholders, project teams, and vendors as needed.
  • Help coordinate technical tasks, action items, and follow-ups to support project delivery timelines.
  • Work with software and platform teams to encourage secure development practices and practical security improvements.
  • Stay current on application security, AI security, and emerging technology risks and apply that knowledge to engineering and review activities.
  • Contribute to written findings, recommendations, and technical communications related to application and AI security activities.
