Responsible for envisioning, architecting, and advancing the Security Automation program by designing and developing tools with a focus on security, you will contribute to the successful journey of American Express towards a hybrid cloud environment. To achieve success, you will collaborate closely with various Technology Risk and Information Security (TRIS) functions, as well as teams in Cloud Engineering, Cloud Security Strategy, Cloud Operations, and numerous other Technology and non-Technology groups to identify, architect, and implement security code elements that facilitate automation. You will enhance a program aimed at promoting automation, zero touch, and idempotency through the concept of "everything-as-code." This role requires a well-organized and proactive team member, capable of prioritizing daily tasks, managing multiple initiatives concurrently, maintaining a forward-looking perspective on new and emerging network edge technologies, and developing and operating business-critical, end-to-end processes and solutions while ensuring an outstanding user experience for colleagues.

Requirements

Proficiency in various Information Security domains, including Network Security(Firewalls), Internet Security, and Cloud Security.
Over 5 years of experience as an architect with a demonstrated history of successful project delivery.
More than 10 years of experience in software development utilizing any of the following programming languages: Java, JavaScript (Node.js), Python, or Golang (with at least 2 years of experience). A comprehensive understanding of the chosen language and its ecosystem is essential.
Familiarity with GitHub and GitHub Actions is required.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, such as Terraform, is necessary.
A background in microservices architecture is mandatory, along with an understanding of both classical and cloud-native design patterns.
Experience with Docker, the Open Containers Initiative, or similar technologies is essential.
A solid understanding of Cloud architecture, particularly in securing public cloud environments with data protection measures, is required.
Knowledge of security configuration management, container security, endpoint security, and secrets management as they pertain to cloud applications is important.
Familiarity with network architecture, proxy infrastructure, and programs that facilitate network access and enablement is necessary.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge across various Information Security domains, such as Infrastructure Vulnerability, Data Loss Prevention, End User Security, and Identity & Access Management, is preferred.
Possession of Cloud Engineering or Security Certifications, such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Certified Security, GCP Cloud DevOps Engineer, GCP Cloud Security Engineer, or similar, is preferred.
Experience in Spring Boot framework and its implementation.
Experience in CICD/Automation and writing resilient and self-healing code base.

Responsibilities

Design and enhance the Network Security Automation program aimed at providing security code components related to automation across both private and public multi-cloud environments.
Engage with architects and subject matter experts from cloud engineering to create comprehensive network automation solutions.
Formulate security architecture proposals and effectively communicate the concepts to secure approval from all stakeholders.
Offer security and engineering guidance and mentorship to the Cloud Programs, which encompass Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Cloud Application Architecture subprograms.
Oversee all facets of development, executing hands-on architecture, design, and the development of automation systems.
Recognize promising opportunities for integrating innovative technologies to address current requirements and anticipate future challenges.
