About The Position

Kaweah Health is a publicly owned, community healthcare organization that provides comprehensive health services to the greater Visalia area in central California. With more than 5,000 employees, Kaweah Health provides state-of-the-art medicine and high-quality preventive services in our acute care hospital, specialized health centers and clinics. Our eight-campus healthcare district has 613 beds and offers comprehensive health services across a broad continuum of care. The Application Analyst II provides excellent customer service by assisting with implementing solutions maintaining and supporting the assigned applications. Application Analysts study the organization’s current information systems and procedures and design information systems solutions to help the organization operate more efficiently and effectively. Application Analysts bring business and information technology (IT) together by understanding the needs and limitations of both. Application Analysts work to build, perform build validation and collaborate with subject matter experts to design and provide input for configuration for clinical information systems. This role also motivates team members and provides assistance to Application Analyst I.

Requirements

  • Must keep all required certifications/equivalent training up-to-date or within three years of original certification/training.
  • Minimum of five years experience in technology or healthcare related field.
  • Of the five years total experience, at least three years of work experience implementing, maintaining and supporting any of the following types of applications: clinical, revenue cycle, human resources, financial and supply chain in a complex setting.
  • Equivalent combination of post-secondary education and experience may be substituted.
  • If assigned to Pharmacy area: requires current pharmacy technician license with the California State Board of Pharmacy.

Nice To Haves

  • Three ISS management approved certifications/equivalent training in area of scope/support.
  • Associate’s degree or higher.
  • Experience working on projects using standard project management skills, tools and methodologies.
  • Experience supporting Cerner or Workday applications.
  • Healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

  • Functions as a resource for the Application Analyst I.
  • Responsible for implementation, maintenance and support of information systems applications, inclusive of the scheduling of updates of new releases of vendor supported applications.
  • Utilizes advance troubleshooting skills to understand root causes and helps identify solutions.
  • Provides consultation to help solve problems related to supported applications and workflows.
  • Supports multiple customers and complex systems using technical, troubleshooting and problem solving expertise.
  • Evaluates and troubleshoots reported system issues and service requests, data retrieval requests, system performance problems and optimization opportunities, and participates in the timely resolution of these activities.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves application errors and other system issues.
  • Identifies system changes and works with the team to communicate them to the customer, affected team members and downstream vendor(s).
  • Develops, maintains and shares documentation of assigned application for troubleshooting, building, and training of other ISS team members.
  • Writes test plans and tests systems to evaluate system functions and operating efficiency.
  • Tests the system, including any configurations, customizations and new releases, prior to production implementation.
  • Functions as a project leader for information system implementations and support.
  • Facilitates the coordination of resources and timelines as required in working with project work plans.
  • Ensures project tasks are clearly outlined with start and end dates within the ISS approved solution.
  • Ensures that the completion of project tasks are on time and helps with issues resolution.
  • Clearly communicates when there is a potential missed deadline and ensure managers, project managers, directors and end users are all aware of a potential missed deadline.
  • Facilitates the resolution of application errors within the ISS approved SLA (Service Level Agreement).
  • Maintains issue resolution documentation within the ISS approved helpdesk ticketing solution.
  • Keeps tickets updated with a current status.
  • Maintains time worked on tickets and within the ISS approved helpdesk ticketing solution.
  • Maintains high levels of customer satisfaction by constant communication and helping solve problems.
  • Maintains a low number of assigned issues in the ticket queue.
  • Performs on-call application support services to provide the hospital with 24 x 7 application support.
  • Collaborates with all ISS team members, customers, partners and vendors to design, build, test and maintain applications to optimize system configuration, functions and finding ways to increase our customers’ productivity.
  • Interacts with clients or other appropriate staff to analyze their business needs and recommends application solutions.
  • Assists with identifying and developing application workflows.
  • Gathers user requirements and translates non-technical business requirements from appropriate resources into application specifications.
  • Escalates issues to the appropriate person/team as needed.
  • Identifies system enhancements and works with the team to evaluate and implement as appropriate.
  • If assigned to Pharmacy area: Coordinates resolution of pharmacy technology problems related to hardware, printers, servers, and databases.
  • If assigned to Pharmacy area: Assists in developing and maintaining clinical, formulary and operation information in pharmacy information systems, automated dispensing cabinets, and pharmacy automation systems.
  • If assigned to Pharmacy area: Responsible for maintenance and support of appropriate financial, billing, and revenue information systems.
  • If assigned to Pharmacy area: Assists in the maintenance, implementation and care of all pharmacy automation including, but not limited to automated dispensing cabinets, automated compounding equipment, automated carousels, automated packaging and automated labeling equipment.
  • If assigned to Pharmacy area: Assists in making recommendations for institutional policies/procedures and workflow to guide the medication use and automation process.
  • If assigned to Pharmacy area: Assists pharmacist in providing effective, appropriate, and safe pharmacy services.
  • If assigned to Pharmacy area: Recognizes situations that exceed technician authority (e.g. drug information) and refers to pharmacist for timely resolution.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
