About The Position

The Application Analyst II serves as an experience team member of the Applications team, responsible for supporting, enhancing, and optimizing assigned clinical and business systems. In addition to providing day-to-day incident resolution and support, the analyst II partners closely with operational stakeholders to analyze workflows, gather requirements, and implement enhancements and solutions that improve patient care and user experience. They function as a primary point of contact for application support, ensuring timely issue resolution and effective communication while upholding adherence to MyMichigan Health's policies, procedures, and business operations. This role demonstrates growing independence in managing moderately complex requests, provides input into service delivery decisions, and supports operational governance. The Analyst II actively seeks opportunities to streamline workflows and reduce unnecessary steps and suggests improvements while ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and change management standards.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree is required
  • Associates Degree or Bachelors in IT, business, or healthcare field with two (2) or more years of work-related experiences providing advanced application system support.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) or more active Epic Certification(s)/Accreditation(s) or other relevant healthcare Certifications, demonstrating expertise in specific applications.
  • Two (2) or more years prior work experience within Healthcare IT, with a strong understanding of clinical workflows, healthcare terminology, and industry standards.
  • Strong analytical thinking skills to dissect complex problems, assess various options, and make informed decisions in support of applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for engaging with stakeholders, team members, and end users in a clear and concise manner.

Responsibilities

  • Uses a strong understanding of business systems and industry requirements to work with business owners and users to document requirements and workflows. Design and maintain content and key system controls (codes tables, master files, user's interfaces etc.).
  • Trouble shoots problems and incidents. Recommends innovative solutions.
  • Plans, executes, and documents supporting evidence of application testing.
  • Collects information regarding potential system enhancement needs and analyzes new functionality in releases to determine how it should be used.
  • Analyzes application capabilities to optimize its use within workflows.
  • Assists in cross training team members and users.
  • Participates in additional projects including software updates and changes.
  • Exhibit a commitment to exceptional customer service while providing Go-Live or Daily end user support and training of Applications.
  • Using an in-depth knowledge of the application systems analysts continually configure, test, and maintain system functionality to meet the needs of end-users in their areas of support.
  • Holds responsibility to complete complex build and configuration tasks and resolves advanced issues as they arise with minimal support from Senior Analyst and Vendors. Translates operational requirements into system design, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliance workflows.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, changes, and support activities. Creates knowledge-based support articles to clearly document resolutions and uses these documents to educate others on resolutions.
  • With support from leadership and senior analysts, represent IT in Operational Workgroups, escalating issues and providing recommendations for solutions.
  • Supports multiple applications, including design, build, testing, training, and troubleshooting with minimal guidance. Performs build tasks following best practices with the minimal support.
  • Provide consultative support to operational teams regarding system best practices and workflow design.
  • Manage medium-size requests from inception to completion with minimal support. Manage plans and timelines, coordinate resources within IT, and ensure that requests are delivered within scope and time.
  • Act as a liaison between IT and Operational departments, facilitating conversations that balance critical and organizational priorities with technical feasibility.
  • Effectively communicates statuses with leadership and subject matter experts. Communicates all application changes, enhancements, and procedures to all relevant stakeholders of impacted areas.
  • Provide guidance and support to less experienced analysts through sharing their knowledge and expertise. Provides guidance to Analyst I staff in troubleshooting, system design, and workflows.
  • Participates in an on-call support rotation to address organizational urgent needs.
  • Travel between MyMichigan and affiliated Locations may be required to support applications and go-live implementations.
  • Embrace the technological orientation of MyMichigan Health by showcasing competency in Microsoft Windows. Upon hiring, complete a Computer Skills Assessment via the learning management system. Depending on assessment outcomes, engage in further learning opportunities provided by MyMichigan Health.
