About The Position

The University of Rochester is seeking a dedicated individual to assist with building, maintaining, monitoring, and auditing on-premises application installations within the Department of Pharmacy. This role involves ensuring security standards are applied, troubleshooting issues, implementing new solutions, and participating in projects to upgrade components or entire systems. The position requires participation in on-call rotations as needed and provides technical support for both non-production and production environments, including a wide range of pharmacy technologies and third-party systems.

Requirements

  • High School diploma and 1 year of related experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in higher education or healthcare field.
  • Experience with interface, networking, design, and relational database technologies.
  • Experience supporting Cloud and on-premises applications.
  • Experience with multi-tier applications employing application and web servers.
  • Experience with project management from planning through implementation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to participate in on-call rotations.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven track record executing multiple work streams and producing consistent results.
  • Strong understanding of system/application administration activities.
  • Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL or related database experience.
  • Solid understanding of Web Server, App Server and Database interactivities.
  • Solid understanding of application infrastructure and architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with building, maintaining, monitoring and auditing on-premises application installations.
  • Ensures security standards are applied and troubleshoots technical issues.
  • Implements new solutions and participates in projects to upgrade components or systems.
  • Provides technical support for non-production and production environments.
  • Supports a wide range of pharmacy technologies and third-party systems.
  • Works directly with third-party vendors and software companies to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Researches and answers technical questions related to application behavior, database performance, server configurations, and security policies.
  • Collaborates with various technical and functional teams to fulfill requests for application support.
  • Monitors both non-production and production environments.
  • Utilizes appropriate tools to manage code migrations, environment builds, testing processes, and production implementations.
  • Responsible for applying patches and delivering updates and upgrades.
  • Participates in regular team retrospective events with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Identifies and recommends improvement opportunities.
  • Shares application administration knowledge and provides cross-training and peer support.
  • Participates in estimation and planning of future application administration work plans.
  • Updates application administration documentation and procedures.
  • Configures application, database, server or security settings as required.
  • Participates in testing newly developed applications, integrations, systems, solutions, and upgrades.
  • Follows best practice application administration and change management procedures.
  • Develops a broad knowledge of technology, equipment, and/or systems in the assigned application areas.
