About The Position

The Appliance Mechanic is responsible for installing, servicing, and repairing various electrical household and commercial appliances. This role involves using hand tools and test equipment to ensure appliances operate correctly and safely, following wiring diagrams and manufacturer specifications. The mechanic will also troubleshoot electrical circuits, replace defective parts, and maintain a safe working environment.

Requirements

• Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of experience in maintenance or relevant schooling.
• Valid and current state driver's license required.
• Ability to operate a government general-purpose vehicle.
• Understanding and ability to use Technical Manuals.
• Basic computer skills are necessary.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance may be required.
• Ability to work in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

• Army MOS 52C or 52D preferred.
• Experience working with U.S. Army combat and tactical equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install, service, and repair stoves, refrigerators, dishwashing machines, and other appliances.
• Connect appliances to power sources and test using meters such as wattmeter, ammeter, or voltmeter.
• Examine appliances during operation to detect issues such as excess vibration, overheating, and fluid leaks.
• Disassemble appliances to inspect mechanical and electrical parts.
• Trace electrical circuits and locate shorts and grounds using an ohmmeter.
• Calibrate timers and thermostats, and adjust contact points as necessary.
• Clean and wash parts using appropriate tools and solvents.
• Replace worn or defective parts including switches, pumps, and wiring.
• Repair and adjust appliance motors, reassemble appliances, and lubricate moving parts.
• Complete paperwork associated with maintenance and repairs.
• Work in a team environment and perform other related duties as assigned.
