We are seeking an experienced Appellate Attorney to join our Litigation Practice Group. This is a unique opportunity to manage sophisticated, high-impact cases while shaping the firm’s appellate strategy on behalf of national financial institutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong command of appellate procedure, exceptional writing skills, and the ability to handle complex legal issues independently while contributing to a collegial and collaborative team.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Admission to practice law in New York (in good standing)
- Minimum 3+ years of litigation experience, including appellate or motion practice
- Demonstrated knowledge of civil and appellate procedure
- Exceptional legal writing, research, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage complex caseloads and strict deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- A proactive, team-oriented mindset with a commitment to excellence
Responsibilities
- Manage complex appellate and commercial litigation matters from inception through resolution
- Draft, edit, and finalize appellate briefs, motions, pleadings, and memoranda of law
- Research, interpret, and apply federal, state, and local statutes, regulations, and case law
- Develop strategic legal arguments and provide insight and recommendations to clients and colleagues
- Handle appellate calendars, manage critical deadlines, and ensure timely filings
- Represent clients before New York trial and appellate courts in oral arguments, hearings, and related proceedings
- Collaborate with internal teams to maintain consistency in litigation strategy and client representation
- Contribute to the firm’s culture of continuous learning, mentorship, and professional growth
