About The Position

The position is a full-time, one-year temporary role within the GCMG Acute Care Surgery department at Advocate Health. The schedule consists of a three-week rotation: one week of night shifts from 7 PM to 5 PM, one week off, and one week of day shifts from 7 AM to 5 PM, which includes a mix of clinic and operating room duties. The pay range for this position is between $53.80 and $80.70 per hour.

Requirements

  • Must have or be eligible for a DEA license.
  • Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of South Carolina.
  • Eligible for prescriptive authority application through the Board of Nursing or Medical Board in SC.
  • BLS certification required per policy guidelines with an expiration date greater than 90 days from the date of beginning practice.
  • Demonstrates appropriate critical thinking, interpersonal skills, and the ability to prioritize and concentrate.
  • Nurse Practitioner Master's Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required.
  • License to practice as a Registered Nurse required.
  • Certification in the area of practice from a nationally recognized certifying body required.

Nice To Haves

  • ACNP, AGACNP, AGNP, PNP, or PNP-AC board certification preferred based on the population served.

Responsibilities

  • Perform initial and periodic medical history, physical examinations, and daily assessments.
  • Record findings of examinations, assessments, and plan of care.
  • Perform minor medical and/or surgical procedures.
  • Write appropriate prescriptions and administer medications.
  • Order and interpret daily laboratory and radiology examinations.
  • Determine treatment plan for patients.
  • Document all patient encounters, observations, interventions, and actions in a medically appropriate manner.
  • Act as a patient advocate for the population served.
  • Attend, participate, and contribute to group/practice meetings and development of policies and procedures when requested.
