About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides service to patients in designated care settings, including acute, short and long-term care, by assisting physicians, assessing patients, and treating injuries and ailments. The NP obtains a thorough medical history from patients and, depending on the patient population and setting, performs examinations and assessments to determine patients' needs. The NP collaborates with other healthcare professionals to analyze and interpret information collected from patients, medical records, symptoms, physical findings, or diagnostic information to develop and establish appropriate diagnoses. The role emphasizes care coordination and navigation, with responsibilities including rounding on patients, formulating treatment plans, prescribing medications, maintaining detailed health care records, and consulting with specialists when necessary. The NP also provides health promotion information to patients and their families, conducts research in their area of specialty, and incorporates evidence-based practice guidelines into care. The position requires keeping abreast of state legal regulations and payer systems relevant to advanced practice provider practices.

Requirements

  • Completion of a master’s, postmaster’s, or doctorate from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
  • Current licensure by the applicable state board of nursing for advanced practice.
  • Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances.
  • Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (NP-C) or (FNP-BC).
  • Demonstrated current competence in provision of care for an adequate volume of patients.
  • Experience must correlate to the privileges requested.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years of experience preferred.
  • DOT certification is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain knowledge of state regulations and payer systems.
