About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides service to patients in designated care settings, including acute, short and long-term care, by assisting physicians, assessing patients, and treating injuries and ailments. The NP will work in collaboration with providers and independently to provide care, formulate treatment plans, and prescribe medications as legally authorized. This position is specifically for Surgical Oncology located in the General Surgery Clinic at Broadway, supporting a team of three surgical oncologists. The NP will see new patients, follow long-term follow-up patients, and assist with preparing patient cases for consult. This is a full-time position with a schedule of Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with no holidays, call, or weekends required.

Requirements

  • Completion of a master’s, postmaster’s, or doctorate from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
  • Current licensure by the applicable state board of nursing for advanced practice.
  • Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances.
  • Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (NP-C) or (FNP-BC).
  • Demonstrated current competence in provision of care for an adequate volume of patients.
  • Experience as a Nurse Practitioner is preferred but not required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Surgical Oncology is preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of surgical oncologists.

Responsibilities

  • Provides service to patients in acute, short and long-term care settings.
  • Assists physicians, assesses patients, and treats injuries and ailments.
  • Obtains a thorough medical history from patients and performs examinations/assessments.
  • Analyzes and interprets information collected from patients and medical records.
  • Develops and establishes appropriate diagnoses.
  • Coordinates care by rounding on patients when necessary.
  • Formulates treatment plans and prescribes medications based on efficacy, safety, and cost.
  • Maintains complete and detailed records of patients' health care plans.
  • Consults with or refers patients to appropriate specialists when necessary.
  • Provides patients with information to promote health and prevent disease.
  • Counsels patients and family members about self-management and treatment plans.
  • Covers hospital consultations, rounding, and assists with patient procedures as needed.
  • Conducts research into specialty area to improve patient care and clinical outcomes.
  • Incorporates evidence-based practice guidelines into care.
  • Maintains current knowledge of state legal regulations for advanced practice provider practices.
