About The Position

Corewell Health is seeking a dynamic APP Lead at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital and South Pavilion to provide direct oversight and leadership to teams of CRNA's and CAA's. The APP Lead role will be accountable for developing and managing the quality and overall performance of advanced practice clinical services in their respective division of the service line. They should possess excellent clinical skills and have strong management and leadership skills. They should ensure that APPs are practicing at the full extent of their licensure and education, within their scope of practice and are incorporated as a valuable member of team-based care. Other responsibilities will include: Champion for and support CH/CHMG system mission, values, vision, and strategic priorities including APP Services’ key strategies. Setting APP job expectations. Work to ensure patient access goals are met and facilitate change to meet goals when necessary. Perform the essential functions of a CRNA or CAA. Promote respectful and collaborative communications between physician leaders and APPs. Lead by example with commitment to enhance APP / physician collaboration. Collaborate with operational/physician leaders to influence the work force planning process and APP recruitment. Participate in APP recruitment and hiring process per RAPID decision making process. Conduct performance/mentorship discussions, including the annual performance review, using APP scorecard as a guide. Foster APP career development and implement strategies to promote retention. Lead APP merit process with operational / physician leadership. Participate in financial planning and cost-reduction initiatives. Facilitate APP student placement and promote positive clinical experiences within service line with assistance from SHOME. Identify high performing students for future recruitment. Perform oversight of APP mentorship program within team. Be proficient with EPIC utilization and coordinate EPIC optimization with APPs. Performance mentoring / corrective action planning with guidance from HR, APP Director, operational/physician leadership. Participate in termination process. Approval of expenses such as CME, PTO, ESC; Processing payroll adjustments, and management of API in collaboration with operational team within service line. Ensure completion, in a timely manner, in collaboration with operational team: annual compliance training, TB, Flu vaccine, license renewal etc. Support and promote high quality care, focus on patient satisfaction, and best-practice initiatives within service line.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree
  • Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia, Master of Science in Anesthesiology (MSA), Master of Medical Science (MMSC)
  • LIC-Registered Nurse (RN) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • CRT-At least one License and/or Certification in area of specialty - UNKNOWN Unknown National Certification Examination (NCE) by NBCRNA (National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists Upon Hire required
  • Or CRT-At least one License and/or Certification in area of specialty - UNKNOWN Unknown National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants (NCCAA) exam Upon Hire required
  • CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required
  • CRT-Pediatric Adv Life Support (PALS) - AHA American Heart Association Pediatric 90 Days required
