About The Position

Bronson Healthcare is seeking to hire a physician assistant or nurse practitioner to work with our excellent hospitalist team. The candidate will evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients who are admitted to the Bronson hospitalist service, which includes managing chronic conditions, addressing acute medical issues, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals. The candidate will work in the emergency department assisting with the admission of patients who are coming onto the hospitalist service. This full-time opportunity will rotate between the Bronson Battle Creek Hospital, Bronson Methodist Hospital, and the new Bronson Behavioral Health Hospital. The position requires working in shifts, which can include nights and weekends, and offers the opportunity to participate in the Advanced Medicine Clinic.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program.
  • Current unrestricted or pending Licensure in the state of Michigan.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate and quality patient-centered care.
  • Master's degree (MSN or MS in Nursing) and 2 years of recent clinical experience related to area of practice required.
  • Current RN licensure in the State of Michigan.
  • Certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse in specialty area of practice.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients admitted to the Bronson hospitalist service.
  • Manage chronic conditions and address acute medical issues.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals.
  • Assist in the emergency department with patient admissions.
  • Establish medical diagnoses for common short-term and chronic stable health problems.
  • Order and evaluate diagnostic studies.
  • Perform and monitor therapeutic procedures (sutures, incision and drainage, IV’s, casting & splinting).
  • Prescribe and regulate medications per written physician agreed upon protocols.
  • Record and document health appraisal data necessary to maintain required services.
  • Act as a resource to healthcare staff and implement education programs.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional memberships.
  • Support research by defining clinical research questions and incorporating findings into practice.
  • Provide emergency care within ACLS and/or BLS guidelines.
  • Participate in process improvement activities.
