The Emergency Psychiatry APP will provide Psychiatric evaluation and management for patients in emergency departments across the system. Patient populations include patients with intoxication, withdrawal, delirium, suicidality or self-harming behavior, dementia, difficulty coping with illness, functional, mood and psychotic disorders who seeking care in Level 1 Trauma Center emergency department as well as emergency departments across the system. Support non-behavioral health staff and providers in the care of behavioral health patients in the emergency setting. This includes proactive and engaged approach to improve patient care, such as responding to behavioral emergencies, restraint reduction, providing education and training, responding to patients who screen positive for certain conditions (such as suicidal ideation or trauma-related symptoms for the Trauma Service), development and implementation of behavioral plans. Role includes blend of clinical work, staff education and quality improvement. Education includes just-in-time training and acting as a resource for staff for de-escalation, mitigation of patient crisis, and early identification of patient needs. Work in a multidisciplinary team - MDs, SW, therapists, Peers. Collaborate with dedicated Emergency Psychiatry program and Addiction Medicine team. Hours: Days with weekends as needed. Holidays are rotated among the team.
