About The Position

The Aorta Program Co-Lead will be responsible for helping to manage the clinical care of patients in the Aortic Disease Program within the Cardiothoracic Surgery Center of Excellence. The Aorta Program Co-Lead will work closely with the Aortic Program Co-Lead from Vascular Surgery as well as faculty and staff from vascular and cardiac surgery to provide high-quality care to patients with aortic disease (aneurysms, dissections, etc). The position will be focused on the outpatient care of patients in the clinical practice.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year experience as a provider with surgical specialty; vascular or CT Surgery experience as provider strongly preferred
  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of cardiovascular disease (hypertension, hyperlipidemia, coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, etc) management
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and process improvement
  • Physician Assistant or Acute Care Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

Nice To Haves

  • Research and Program Development strongly preferred
  • Cardiac ICU experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee pre- and post-operative outpatient protocols for patients with aortic disease
  • Work closely with Aortic Program Nurse Navigator and Vascular Surgery Aortic Program APP Co-Lead and other staff to coordinate the pre- and post-operative care of patients
  • Participate in aortic-related clinical research and publication activities
  • Collaborate with the quality improvement team to identify opportunities for quality projects and maintenance of associated registries
  • Educate patients, families, and healthcare providers about aortic aneurysms/dissection and their management
  • Keep abreast of current best practices, guidelines, and developments in the patient population
