The Role We are looking for an API Platform & Developer Tooling Intern to join our team in a hybrid capacity in San Jose, CA, reporting to the Senior Director, Software Development Engineering within the Engineering department. The core purpose of the API Platform & Developer Tooling Intern is to build and refine the infrastructure and internal tools that empower engineering teams to develop, test, and deploy APIs with maximum speed and reliability. By improving developer workflows and maintaining robust API standards, you directly enhance the internal developer experience (DevEx) and the scalability of the company's technical ecosystem.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Systems
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills
  • Motivated self-starter with a passion for innovation and technology

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in at least one of the following: Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Python
  • Experience with at least one public cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization with Docker, and familiarity with Kubernetes

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain internal CLI tools, SDKs, or dashboards that automate repetitive developer tasks, such as environment setup or service scaffolding, to increase overall engineering velocity
  • Assist in defining and enforcing API design guidelines (e.g., REST, GraphQL, or gRPC) and documentation standards to ensure consistency, security, and ease of use across the platform
  • Identify bottlenecks in the internal development lifecycle and implement solutions—such as automated testing suites or mock servers—that reduce "friction" for feature teams
