About The Position

Overview The position of an API Inspector is responsible for performing inspections and to provide oversight for purposes of recommending and approving repairs or certifying compliance in accordance with API standards and other industry rules and regulations. An API Inspector will perform work as required to maximize the quality of the Company while maintaining the specified expectations of the client and ensure safe working environment while performing work and will conduct all Company business in accordance with Company policies and procedures. This position will maintain professionalism throughout all business dealings, both internally and externally.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of experience in the design, construction, repair, operation, or inspection of pressure vessels.
  • API certification.
  • Must be able to operate inspection testing apparatuses.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-year degree or certificate in engineering or technology and 4 years of related experience.
  • Petrochemical/refinery experience.
  • Valid TWIC.
  • OSHA 10/30 training.
  • First Aid and CPR trained.
  • Class “A” driver’s license and a clean MVR.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the execution of mechanical work in progress to ensure that is complies with the applicable codes, standards, and specific job requirements.
  • Evaluate completed work for compliance with applicable codes, standards, and job requirements.
  • Check and perform calculations relative to in-service deterioration, repairs, rerates or alterations, such as those included in the following: corrosion rates and inspection intervals, joint efficiencies, static head pressure, internal pressure, external pressure, pressure/hydro testing, impact testing, weld size for attachment welds at openings, nozzle reinforcement, welding procedure and qualification evaluation.
  • Adopt a Company attitude in all client, vendor, employee, and outside contact interactions.
  • Actively pursue continuing technical education courses or seminars.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with applicable environmental, health, safety and building codes as required by federal, state, local and refinery regulations.
  • Maintain poise and focus under time constraint and adverse conditions.
  • Attend and complete trainings as required by the Company and client.
  • Pass all required drug/alcohol testing and background requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
