About The Position

The APCD Administrative Services Director serves as a key member of Ventura County Air Pollution Control District's leadership team, advancing a high-performing, inclusive, and engaged workplace that supports the District's mission to protect public health and the environment. This position partners closely with the Executive Director and senior leadership to strengthen collaboration across divisions, enhance the employee experience, and ensure operational excellence. In this role, you will lead strategic and organizational initiatives that improve efficiency, transparency and effectiveness-conducting assessments, leveraging data to guide decision-making, and designing innovative development strategies. You will coach and mentor leaders at all levels to cultivate strong leadership capability and a culture of excellence, service, and accountability. Additionally, you will have oversight of the departmental fiscal and administrative services and information technology units consisting of two (2) managers and ten (10) staff members. You will provide supervision, set clear expectations, and promote continuous learning and improvement. The position also leads the development and delivery of presentations to diverse audiences and ensures mandatory training programs and performance evaluations are successfully executed. The APCD Administrative Services Director is an At-Will classification that is exempt from the provision of the Civil Service Ordinance.

Requirements

  • Your experience researching and providing direction, support, and advice to executive staff, management and others regarding identified problems/issues.
  • Your human resources experience, including your role and responsibility in the areas of organizational development, training & development, investigating allegations of discrimination/harassment, recruitment, and/or exam development
  • Your experience managing a work unit(s) and leading/directing staff, including titles, numbers and functions of staff.
