About The Position

Bender Companies is seeking a skilled and dedicated Apartment Painter to join our team at one of our apartment communities in Steger. The ideal candidate is a hands-on professional who takes pride in their work and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. To succeed in this role, you should have strong attention to detail, knowledge of proper surface preparation and painting techniques, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The right candidate will be self-motivated, organized, and able to follow direction while also working independently when needed. As a Painter at Bender Companies, you will play a key role in maintaining the overall appearance and condition of the apartment community. You will be responsible for completing painting projects efficiently, safely, and to company standards. In this role, you will work closely with the maintenance team to prepare apartment homes for new residents, complete touch-ups, and enhance the overall aesthetic of the community. This position will require you to work on-site at the property in Steger.

Requirements

  • Reliable transportation to get to work
  • 1+ year of professional painting experience (apartment or residential preferred)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with residents, vendors, and team members
  • Ability to work independently, follow directions, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces by cleaning, patching drywall, repairing minor damage, sanding, and priming
  • Paint interior walls, ceilings, trim, doors, and cabinets in occupied and vacant units
  • Complete full unit repaints during turnovers (make-readies)
  • Perform touch-ups in common areas and occupied apartments as needed
  • Support the completion of unit turnovers and make-readies, including painting, repairs, and cleaning as needed
  • Ensure all work complies with safety standards, building codes, and company policies
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
