About The Position

The Apartment Complex Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations, programs, and services of a 23-unit affordable living apartment complex in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. This full-time administrative role involves marketing vacant apartments, ensuring compliance with HUD guidelines, managing financial records, and serving as a liaison between residents and their families. The manager will also handle complaints and disturbances, ensuring a supportive living environment for residents.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in human services, business administration, community services, or related field preferred.
  • Two years of experience in a housing setting preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of HUD Policies and procedures related to affordable living for seniors, families, and persons with disabilities.
  • Ability to display compassion and empathy towards vulnerable adults.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with residents, staff, and community agencies.
  • Ability to read, write, and analyze financial reports and budgets.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a supervisory role in a housing setting.
  • Familiarity with community service agencies and governmental organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership of the apartment complex operations, programs, and services.
  • Market vacant apartments to prospective residents and determine their eligibility according to HUD guidelines.
  • Collect applications, rental fees, and maintain financial and resident records as required.
  • Act as a liaison between residents, their families, and responsible parties.
  • Investigate complaints, violations, or disturbances and resolve them according to established procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation of the property's annual operating budget and recommend capital expenditures.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate written policies and procedures governing activities and services of the property.
  • Ensure operations meet all regulatory and quality assurance standards, including OSHA and HUD regulations.
  • Participate in the development of new programs and services consistent with the goals of the division.
