About The Position

APAC-Kansas Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator for our Bonner Springs location. This position involves operating heavy, off-road type equipment such as drills, loaders, dozers, trucks, service equipment, and excavators, primarily in quarry applications. The role also includes providing manual labor at ground level, which involves various duties around a quarry production facility, including welding. The job is conducted outdoors and is subject to weather conditions, requiring manual skills, some mathematical reasoning, and a strong emphasis on safety practices around heavy equipment. The Heavy Equipment Operator will work under the general supervision of a foreman, following standard policies and procedures. The operator is expected to refer any problems or questions to the foreman. Daily responsibilities include servicing the assigned machine before operation, which involves checking oil levels, hydraulic fluid, coolant, and other necessary fluids, as well as conducting visual inspections of tires and overall machine condition. The operator will also be responsible for fueling the machine with diesel fuel from storage tanks and operating the machine safely and efficiently to achieve the highest production rates possible. In addition to operating machinery, the Heavy Equipment Operator will perform plant maintenance, assist mechanics with repairs, and maintain a clean work area. This includes shoveling and reporting any potential problems to the supervisor. The role requires dependable attendance and compliance with the company's drug and alcohol policy, including random drug testing. Candidates should possess skills in machine operation, maintenance, and safety, as well as the ability to lift up to 75 pounds, climb ladders, and operate controls for extended periods. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, along with a minimum of six months of experience operating smaller loaders, dozers, or off-road machinery, although training will be provided for the right candidate.
