About The Position
Top Score Education is a leader in personalized, private, and small-group education programs. Our innovative curricula bridge analytical and creative thinking to produce robust learners and leaders. We're growing rapidly and seeking new team members to teach, mentor, and guide bold and exceptional students and grow professionally as we build an education movement. We are seeking a part-time, 1-1, in-home high school tutor in Northern Virginia, DC, or Maryland. To be competitive, it would be ideal if you have past experience teaching/tutoring AP Literature and/or AP Language.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Highly focused, organized, keen time management, attention to detail, and ability to follow processes.
- Fast, consistent, and direct communication
- Committed to continuous student/tutor/team collaboration
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends
- A weekly commitment of a minimum of 8 teaching hours per week (for example, 1-2 weekday evenings and one weekend day)
- Consistent access to a car (work is primarily in students’ homes 1:1) and willingness to drive up to 30 minutes to a lesson (travel bonus for longer travel).
Nice To Haves
- Experience tutoring or teaching AP Lit/Lang and other high school English courses.
- We value tutors with a broad range of instructional experience in high school English.
- Current or former AP Lit/Lang classroom teachers are highly encouraged to apply!
Responsibilities
- Academic planning and instruction
- Conduct 90 minute private individual lessons in student homes, weekdays 4-10 pm, and/or weekends
- Develop and maintain genuine, positive, and consistent communication with parents and students

- The starting pay range for this role is $50-$65 per hour.
- As they grow and develop with our company, Top Score Tutors can earn up to $80 per hour.
