About The Position

Top Score Education is a leader in personalized, private, and small-group education programs. Our innovative curricula bridge analytical and creative thinking to produce robust learners and leaders. We're growing rapidly and seeking new team members to teach, mentor, and guide bold and exceptional students and grow professionally as we build an education movement.

We are seeking a part-time, 1-1, in-home high school tutor in Northern Virginia, DC, or Maryland. To be competitive, it would be ideal if you have past experience teaching/tutoring AP US History. Bonus points if you have also taught AP World or AP European History.

Requirements

• Experience tutoring or teaching AP US History and other high school English and history courses.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Energized to foster positive relationships with our client families
• Highly focused, organized, keen time management, attention to detail, and ability to follow processes.
• Fast, consistent, and direct communication
• Committed to continuous student/tutor/team collaboration
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends
• A weekly commitment of a minimum of 8 teaching hours per week (for example, 1-2 weekday evenings and one weekend day)
• Consistent access to a car (work is primarily in students’ homes 1:1) and willingness to drive up to 30 minutes to a lesson (travel bonus for longer travel).

Nice To Haves

• Bonus points if you have also taught AP World or AP European History.
• Current or former AP US History classroom teachers are highly encouraged to apply!
• We value tutors with a broad range of instructional experience in high school history and English.

Responsibilities

• Academic planning and instruction
• Conduct 60-120 minute private individual lessons in student homes, weekdays 4-10 pm, and/or weekends
• Develop and maintain genuine, positive, and consistent communication with parents and students
