About The Position

Position Summary: This position provides a combination of clinical service and teaching within the Emergency and Critical Care service. The distribution of responsibilities between these areas will be determined collaboratively with the successful candidate to align service needs with the individual’s strengths and professional goals. Scheduling of clinical and teaching duties will remain guided primarily by the operational needs of the service. This position duration is scheduled from July 1, 2026 - June 30, 2027. Moving expenses can be negotiated for successful hires. Full Consideration Date: April 17, 2026 Description of Work Unit: Veterinary Teaching Hospital At the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) we exist to educate the next generation of veterinarians by providing exceptional veterinary care and service to the community every day. This work unit exists to provide administration and direction of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and provide a support facility for service to the general public and referring veterinarians. Requirements

  • DVM or equivalent veterinary professional degree.
  • Diplomate of American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (ACVECC) or European College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (ECVECC).
  • Eligibility for academic veterinary licensure in the State of Colorado.
  • Demonstrated interest in clinical education of students, interns, and residents.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical service in the Emergency Room and Critical Care Unit, including direct patient management and hands‑on delivery of advanced emergency and critical care.
  • Actively instruct junior and senior veterinary students and participate in clinical training for interns and residents rotating through Emergency and Critical Care.
  • Manage and participate in 24/7/365 Emergency and Critical Care service coverage, including backup support for interns and residents on emergency duty.
  • Provide consultations and medical guidance to other services within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital regarding high‑acuity or critically ill patients.
  • Provide professional consultation to veterinarians in Colorado to support community and referral needs.
  • Contribute to a high‑quality learning and clinical environment through effective communication, professional conduct, and collaborative case management.
