About The Position

TITLE: Anticipated Technology Teacher QUALIFICATIONS: Holds or is eligible for a New Jersey Instructional certificate and holds a New Jersey endorsement in Computer Science (#1820) If you currently do not hold the #1820 endorsement, below are the requirements to obtain one: 1) Meet all regular requirements for the CE, CEAS or standard and complete a minimum three semester of three semester-hour credits, or equivalent, in a methods of teaching computer science course offered by an accredited college or university. CE holders must complete the course within 12 months of the initial computer science teaching assignment. 2) Candidates holding a standard instructional certificate in another endorsement area shall: Complete 15 semester hour credits of computer science course work; Pass the appropriate State test of computer science content knowledge; and Complete a minimum of three semester-hour credits, or equivalent, in a methods of teaching computer science course offered by an accredited college or university within 12 months of the initial computer science teaching assignment. 3) Candidates who hold a standard certificate and teach computer science as of September 1, 2024, shall be eligible for the computer science endorsement if they: Have received two effective or highly effective ratings in teaching computer science within the last four years; and Pass the appropriate State test of computer science content knowledge. REPORT TO: School Principal JOB GOALS: To effect desired student learning as prescribed by the mission and vision of school district. To provide the approved educational program and perform such duties as may be required to maintain the effectiveness and efficiency of the school district operations.

Responsibilities

  • Plans lessons that strive to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of all students.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Guides the learning program toward the achievement of district and school goals and objectives.
  • Employs instructional methods and achievement in accordance with established standards of proficiency.
  • Promotes student learning and achievement in accordance with established standards of proficiency.
  • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis, keep appropriate records, and provides progress reports, as required.
  • Confers, as necessary and desirable, with parents/guardians.
  • Identifies the learning needs of students on a regular basis, seeking assistance of district specialists, when appropriate.
  • Assists in curriculum development, in the selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials, and maintains required records.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves, as appropriate, on staff committees.
  • Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policy.
  • Maintains professional development and growth.
  • Maintains ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel and other agencies.
  • Performs duties which are within the scope of his/her employment and certification as assigned by his/her supervisor in accordance with N.J. State Law, State Board of Education Rules and Regulations, Deptford Township Board of education policies, and contractual obligations.
