About The Position

Primary Purpose: To support implementation of district early childhood and early literacy programs and initiatives (Pre-Kindergarten through fourth grade).

Requirements

• Master's Degree from an accredited university with emphasis in reading required
• Valid Texas Teaching Certificate
• Elementary Certificate
• Reading background and dyslexia experience preferred
• Working knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and staff development
• Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teacher effectiveness
• Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of Pre-Kindergarten Guidelines and TEKS for K-4
• Knowledge of rules and regulations for public school early childhood programs
• Knowledge of best practices in development in literacy
• Knowledge of research-based balanced literacy programs
• Five years successful elementary classroom teaching experience in literacy required
• Experience with planning and presenting staff development presentations required
• Experience in development of literacy curriculum, instruction, and assessment programs required

Nice To Haves

• Master Reading Teacher Certification preferred
• GT and ESL Certificate preferred
• Texas Reading Academies (preferred)
• Classroom experience at both primary and upper elementary levels preferred
