About The Position

Dover Public Schools is a progressive, culturally diverse school district in Morris County serving approximately 3,600 students, Pre-K through grade 12. We are currently accepting applications for the position of an Anticipated Director of Facilities, Maintenance and Custodial Services. This is a full-time (12-month), contracted position. The Director will organize, administer, and lead a comprehensive program of maintenance and custodial services that provide and maintain in an efficient and economical manner the facilities, grounds, equipment, and furnishings of the district, ensuring that all students, staff, and the community are assured of clean, safe, attractive, and healthy places in which to learn and work.

Requirements

  • MUST possess a Certified Educational Facilities Manager Certification
  • Black Seal Boiler Operator's License
  • Post-secondary training related to professional responsibilities
  • Demonstrate knowledge of architecture, school construction, engineering, plant operation, maintenance and management, and school safety
  • Experience in project estimation of labor and supply needs and ability to supervise and coordinate the activities of department staff
  • Experience in budget development for district/plant operations
  • Possess at least an Associate's Degree or comparable professional experience
  • Have at least five years of experience in administrative functions and a minimum of three years in a supervisory capacity
  • Demonstrate knowledge of construction codes, health and safety regulations, financial and management practices, purchasing, supervision and motivation of personnel, and state and local regulations regarding the maintenance of buildings and equipment
  • Manage multiple potential building projects from implementation to completion
  • HVAC experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assumes responsibility for the comprehensive overall planning and scheduling of maintenance and repair requirements of the district
  • Supervises and inspects the work performed by outside contractors and verifies that the terms of all such contracts have been fulfilled
  • Interprets and enforces Board Policies regarding school maintenance, safety and security procedures
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Building Principal, and Superintendent of Schools
