About The Position

The 1:1 Educational Assistant at Wilmington Public Schools is responsible for supporting students with special needs both inside and outside the general education classroom. This role focuses on implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and assisting the classroom teacher in delivering tailored instruction to meet diverse learning needs.

Requirements

• Experience in special education.
• Experience working with children.
• Classroom experience.

Responsibilities

• Support students within and outside of the general education classroom according to their IEPs.
• Implement goals, modifications, and benchmarks established by the special education liaison.
• Assist the classroom teacher as deemed appropriate, including small group instruction and providing frequent breaks.
• Make modifications for students and work with diverse learning styles.
• Work with the special needs population and implement current IEP plans and data collection.
• Collaborate with grade-level colleagues, the classroom teacher, and special education liaisons.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
