About The Position

The Ansible Automation Engineer supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) under the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The role is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automation solutions to support system buildouts, deployments, configuration activities, troubleshooting, and operational improvements. This position ensures high-quality automation practices, maintains strict configuration management, and contributes to mission-critical system readiness.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must possess an active Secret security clearance.
  • 10+ years of full-time general work experience (may be reduced with advanced education).
  • 6+ years direct experience using automation tools.
  • 1+ year experience in management or leadership roles.
  • Experience creating and modifying Ansible playbooks and roles.
  • Experience configuring and working with job templates, inventories, workflows, and Ansible objects.
  • Experience with automation tools/techniques (Ansible, Terraform, etc.).
  • Experience coding/scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Batch).
  • DoD 8570 Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with virtualized systems and services (VMware).
  • Experience with security patching and software management (RedHat Satellite).
  • Experience integrating NetBox with automation tools.
  • Familiarity with software lifecycle and development processes.
  • RedHat certification in automation or administration.
  • Knowledge of Missile Defense, DoD communication systems, and MDIOC operations.
  • Degree in IT or Engineering discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an Ansible Automation Engineer supporting system build-out and deployment to the C2BMC Test Facility for MDA
  • Expand the role and capability of automation in IT management environments.
  • Implement automation to replace manual, repetitive, time-consuming configuration tasks.
  • Perform troubleshooting and root-cause analysis; provide corrective action recommendations.
  • Ensure system changes follow developer documentation, configuration management standards, and documentation practices.
  • Provide regular task and troubleshooting status updates to team leads, managers, and stakeholders.
  • Assist integration leads/managers with problem definition, analysis, requirements development, and implementation.
  • Use the REMEDY ticketing system to track, report, and document lifecycle activities for system issues.
  • Perform evening and weekend work as required to support after-hours mission activities.
