About The Position

Dive into an exciting opportunity at SEA LIFE San Antonio! 💙 As an Animal Welfare Host, you’ll work alongside our awesome Displays Team to care for a diverse collection of freshwater and marine animals — including elasmobranchs (sharks & rays 🦈), fish 🐟, reptiles 🐢, and invertebrates 🦀.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth daily operation of our aquarium, from feeding and life support maintenance to helping deliver an unforgettable guest experience. 🌟

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Team player with a positive, proactive attitude and a passion for animal welfare
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Must have or be able to obtain a valid Florida driver’s license

Nice To Haves

• B.A., B.S., or 2-year technical degree in a Life Science field
• Previous experience as a volunteer or intern at a zoo, aquarium, or animal care facility preferred
• First Aid & CPR certifications preferred

Responsibilities

• Prepare and distribute daily diets for over 5,000 animals
• Feed animals, observe behaviors, and record daily data
• Maintain detailed logs of animal health treatments, feedings, and exhibit maintenance
• Conduct water quality analysis for exhibit habitats
• Interact with guests during public animal feeds and educational presentations
• Assist with other operational and husbandry tasks as assigned
• Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, and Security protocols
• Conduct and review risk assessments regularly
• Report new or potential risks promptly to management
• Promote safe working practices and ensure team adherence
• Properly document and report all incidents or accidents and help implement corrective actions
