About The Position

The Biotechnician I position is a full-time, non-exempt role that involves performing basic laboratory functions under direct supervision or according to specific procedures and direction. The work environment varies significantly from task to task and is primarily in a laboratory setting, which may expose the employee to physical, chemical, or biological hazards. Daily contact with employees in other departments is required. The Biotechnician I supports product manufacturing by executing laboratory protocols, utilizing basic knowledge of biology, chemistry, laboratory equipment, and computer software.

Requirements

• Associate degree or related work experience.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Previous experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Basic understanding of lab operations.
• Proficiency with basic lab equipment.
• Ability to follow directions.
• Ability to recognize variances in processes, procedures, and results.
• Ability to document variances and report them.

Nice To Haves

• BS in biology, chemistry, or related field such as veterinary studies or two to three years equivalent industry experience.
• 0 to 3 years related experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with QSR, cGMP, and ISO regulations and guidelines.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with laboratory equipment and procedures required for the specific job (balance, pH meter, sterile technique, dilution plating, etc.).
• Familiarity with standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of basic laboratory techniques.
• Maintains accurate and current documentation using various SOPs in a GMP environment.
• Communicates results both verbally and in writing with peers and supervisors.
• Maintains and organizes laboratory areas.
• Restocks supplies as required to maintain efficient workflow.
• Recognizes variances in processes, procedures, and results and reports to supervisor.
• Takes initiative to resolve variances in processes, procedures, and results.
