An animal services officer to join our team. In this role, you will perform tasks related to rabies control, impoundment, education and prevention services. Your responsibilities will include: Safely and humanely capturing and transporting animals, including those who are sick, injured or potentially dangerous. Investigating reports of rabies exposure, dangerous or vicious animals and proper care violations. Participating in prevention services such as teaching bite prevention classes, responsible pet ownership classes, etc. Contributing to the programs and services that support the shelter's live outcome goal. Establishing quarantines and overseeing home observations. Responding to observed or reported emergency situations and ordinance violations as well as after-hours emergency calls as needed at the request of citizens and other government agencies such as the San Angelo Police Department. Answering citizen questions and providing assistance and education regarding responsible animal ownership and ordinance requirements and assist in complaint mediation. Writing reports and recording data on appropriate forms. Issuing citations, drafting court complaints, obtaining seizure warrants and testifying in court. Euthanizing animals when necessary, with understanding and compassion for the animal. Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm, after hours on call. Regular and timely attendance is required.
