About The Position

Cogent Biosciences is a publicly traded biotechnology company focused on developing novel precision therapies to treat a broad range of patients with unmet medical needs. Their lead program, bezuclastinib, is designed to selectively and potently inhibit exon 17 mutations found within the KIT receptor tyrosine kinase, including KIT D816V, which drives Systemic Mastocytosis and is found in gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST). Bezuclastinib has shown promising initial data across three trials (APEX, SUMMIT, PEAK) with an encouraging safety profile. Cogent is seeking a dedicated Research Animal Technician to join their team for weekend and holiday shifts. In this role, the technician will be responsible for administering scheduled doses of medications to research animals and performing routine cleaning and maintenance of animal enclosures to uphold high standards of animal care and facility hygiene. The ideal candidate is experienced in laboratory animal care, highly attentive to detail, and comfortable working independently while following established protocols. This position plays a critical role in supporting ongoing research and ensuring the health and well-being of animals in their care.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in dosing mice and rats (oral gavage and IP)
  • Veterinary technicians will also be considered
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols
  • Ability to work independently and maintain consistency in care

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 1 year of laboratory animal care experience

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and provide daily care for research animals
  • Administering oral and IP test articles to mice and rats
  • Safely handle and restrain animals
  • Perform cage washing, preparation, and general husbandry tasks
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the facility
  • Perform health checks on all animals (AM Shifts)
  • Ensure adequate food and water supply (AM Shifts)
  • Address any immediate husbandry needs (e.g., flooded cages) (AM Shifts)
  • Complete scheduled dosing (PM Shifts)
  • Wash and prep cages as needed (PM Shifts)
  • Assist on any other assigned tasks (PM Shifts)
