About The Position

The Animal Research Protocol Coordinator shall support Government directors, PIs, in the planning, programming, and execution of clinical research projects and protocols and associated activities.

Requirements

  • B.S in Biological Sciences or a closely related field
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in clinical research.
  • Demonstrate competence in oral and written communication.
  • Possess organizational, attentive to detail, and possess a positive, friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Possess computer skills including intermediate level experience with Excel and other Microsoft Office Software.
  • Ability to communicate regularly with all Departmental Supervisors to schedule and coordinate all study related activities.
  • Ability to quality check study source documents and large databases
  • Ability to use available software systems, specifically the current accounts tracking systems, publication submissions, purchase orders, credit card purchases, and preparation of forms for incoming and out coming funds
  • Possess skills for the animal lab including Swan Ganz catheter insertion, appropriate application of NIRS, vital sign interpretation, administration of treatments via infusion pumps or standard pressure bags, via IV catheters or central lines.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters Degree Preferred.
  • Possess and maintain an American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) training and remain current Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the submission, review, approval and life-cycle management activities for animal research protocols,
  • Complete administrative actions as required.
  • Prepare protocols and other protocol actions for IACUC review, and complete administrative actions as required.
  • Maintain meeting schedules, committee rosters and action item trackers.
  • Provide administrative support for IACUC meetings, accreditation site visits and semi-annual self-inspections.
  • Prepare protocols and other administrative documents for IBC-R review.
  • Maintains meeting schedules, committee rosters, and action item trackers.
  • Provide administrative support for IBC-R meetings.
  • Ensure all protocol documents and IACUC administrative processes comply with local, federal, institutional and accrediting body regulations and policies, such as those from the IACUC.
  • Maintain records of protocol administration and committee activities, including progress reports, adverse events, and regulatory forms, in accordance with local, federal and institutional policies regarding records management.
  • Serve as a liaison between researchers, veterinarians, administrative staff, the IACUC and external regulatory entities.
  • Complete all communications as required to fulfill duties of the position.
  • Monitor, track, and facilitate the completion of regularly recurring reports and taskers.
  • When required, serve as an institutional contact for the submission of regulatory reports.
  • May develop and assist with training materials and sessions on protocol and/or IACUC administration.
  • Maintain institutional, IACUC, IBC-R and research staff training records.
  • Other duties as assigned
