About The Position

The Community Work and Service (CWS) Animal Crew Leader’s duties and responsibilities include leading the CWS Animal Crew and coordinating daily care for all animals on the farm year-round. Crew Leaders support residents’ recovery by building authentic, professional relationships and helping residents restore a sense of engagement, productivity, and contribution. The Crew Leaders’ primary task is to ensure the fulfillment of CooperRiis’ mission by assisting residents in their recovery process through purposeful work and meaningful involvement in the Farm community. Location: Mill Spring, NC

Requirements

At least 21 years or older to operation CooperRiis vehicles and equipment and to be covered under CooperRiis Insurance
Experience working on a farm .
Ability to work in various weather, be moving, lifting, and bending for extended periods of time, and lift up to 50 pounds consistently
Ability to operate farm machinery such as tractors, large mowers

Responsibilities

Has a thorough understanding of the Farm program and the (7) seven-domains enhanced model of recovery.
Leads the CWS Animal Crew. Provides leadership and guidance for all animal related matters. Organizes the daily tasksfor the crew, with a variety of options to meet resident needs. Assistsresidents bydemonstratingor educating them on how to properly perform the tasks.
Acquiresgeneral knowledge of the resident’s recovery goals and helps each to address any barriers and build on their successes.
Collaborates with members of residents’ recovery teams whenassistanceor more support is needed for a resident.
Attends Recovery Planning meetings and other meetings to support the residents.
Documents relevant CWS information in the resident’s electronic health record and/or communicated to the resident’s team.
Provides guidance and leadership to support staff, interns, and volunteers assigned to the animal barn.
