About The Position

The position involves capturing, caring for, and disposing of vicious, sick, loose, or dead animals and wildlife. The role requires responding to citizen complaints about animals causing a nuisance and capturing animals to return them to their owners or removing them to custody. If an animal is deceased, the employee will prepare and dispose of the animal in the designated disposal area. The employee will also release animals to claimants or arrange for euthanasia when necessary, while maintaining records and reports of complaints and investigations. Additionally, the position may involve arranging for the preservation of animal bodies for laboratory examination and investigating violations of City ordinances and State law regarding animals. The employee will complete police reports on animal complaints and present information to the City Attorney's or County Prosecutor's Office for criminal prosecution or other appropriate court action. The role may also include assisting in the prosecution of animal cases, issuing Appearance Tickets for violations of City Animal Ordinances, and operating City vehicles as needed.
