About The Position

The Mohave County Sheriff's Office is seeking a dedicated Animal Control Officer to join our team in Kingman, AZ. This position involves performing journey-level work in enforcing city, county, and state ordinances related to animal control. The officer will patrol assigned areas, impound animals, issue citations, and respond to calls and complaints regarding animal-related issues. The role also includes participating in the care of animals, ensuring their welfare, and promoting humane treatment through education and example. As an Animal Control Officer, you will work under the general supervision of a higher authority, with the responsibility of independently completing assigned tasks accurately and in a timely manner. Your work will be evaluated through observation and the assessment of completed tasks and reports. You may also exercise technical supervision over new or less experienced Animal Control Officers or other assigned personnel. Key responsibilities include communicating professionally with the public and co-workers, operating a motor vehicle safely while patrolling, utilizing a two-way radio effectively, and investigating calls and complaints regarding animals. You will be responsible for collecting stray animals, issuing citations for ordinance violations, conducting investigations into animal cruelty, and rescuing or relocating animals in distress. Additionally, you will handle deceased animals, euthanize when necessary, and provide court testimony as required. Maintaining accurate daily work records and ensuring the cleanliness and organization of your vehicle and equipment are also essential functions of this role.
