About The Position

The City of Pearland Animal Services division has an opening for an Animal Control Officer. We make it our mission to protect, shelter, and care for animals, present educational programs to the community, provide support to residents and their pets during times of disaster, and offer and promote pet adoptions. Our staff of ten professionally trained individuals are dedicated to serving the public and local animals, and we want you to bring your passion and love for all animals to our team!

Requirements

• This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent
• At least 3 months experience in animal handling

Nice To Haves

• Basic ACO and Euthanasia certifications

Responsibilities

• Responding to calls and requests for service.
• Answering the phone and provides customer service to callers, visitors and citizens.
• Caring for animals at the shelter; assisting with kennel and office work; cleaning the shelter.
• Educating citizens on the proper care of animals.
• Performing public safety duties such as quarantines and bite reports.
• Driving and maintaining your work vehicle.
• Enforcing ordinances.
• Euthanizing animals humanely and skillfully so that there is the least amount of trauma possible for the animals.
• Lending a helping hand to your team as needed.
