About The Position

The Animal Control Officer I (Non-Certified) position involves performing routine animal service duties under the supervision of the Animal Services Manager or Director. The role includes assisting in the pickup of animals, cleaning and sanitizing kennels, and euthanizing animals when necessary. The officer represents the county in public interactions and is required to be on call for emergencies, including nights and weekends.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Florida Driver's License for required travel.
• Must obtain an Animal Control Officer I Certification within 6 months.
• Must obtain a euthanasia certificate within 12 months of employment.

• Knowledge of using and operation of portable radios.
• Ability to deal with the general public.
• Knowledge of the rules and regulations regarding animal services.

Responsibilities

• Pick up animals associated with normal animal services operations.
• Perform any necessary on call duty for emergencies only.
• Collect impoundment fees and other fees associated with the animal services facility.
• Assist in euthanasia of animals.
• Clean and sanitize kennels.
• Keep the animal services vehicle clean.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
