Galveston County Health District is looking for a compassionate Animal Care Technician to care for animals, maintain a safe and clean shelter, and support our community. What You’ll Do: Feed, handle, and care for animals in the shelter Maintain a clean and safe environment for animals and visitors Implant microchips and assist with veterinary procedures Perform euthanasia and document drug usage (certification required within 6 months if not held) Track inventory, assist with cremations, and support volunteers in animal handling Enter accurate data into our animal services system What We’re Looking For: High school diploma or equivalent 6+ months’ experience working with animals or in animal control Basic animal handling skills; experience with large or aggressive animals preferred Valid Texas driver’s license; ability to provide your own transportation Strong communication, customer service, and computer skills Willingness to work evenings and weekends Must pass background and drug/alcohol screening Equivalent education and experience may be considered Application Deadline: Open Until Filled No phone calls please ADA / EEO / DFWP Our Mission: Protecting and Promoting the One Health of Galveston County
