Works under the supervision of the Animal Services Manager and the Animal Welfare Director. Cares for, feeds and houses animals at the animal shelter; provides maintenance and upkeep for the animal shelter. Assists in the adoption of animals. Assists in the process of euthanasia of animals by lethal injection. Determines health status of animals. Maintains records and files for the animal shelter and the animals housed there. Assists in the intake of animals, weighing, vaccinating, aging and determining sex. Must be able to do data entry in an efficient manner. Works an assigned shift using own judgment in deciding course of action being expected to handle difficult and emergency situations without assistance. Carries out duties in conformance with City laws and ordinances. Using excellent customer service skills, establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees, officials, and all members of the general public. Operates a motor vehicle to assist in carrying out the business of the department and the City. Attendance at work is an essential function of this position.
