For over a 100 years, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay has been dedicated to ending animal homelessness and providing care and comfort for companion animals in need. We’re currently seeking a full time Animal Care Supervisor for our state of the art shelter. This position covers for the Animal Care Manager when they are not available. The functions of this role include, but are not limited to, providing the care and basic needs of all animals in the shelter including: cleaning of cages and runs in kennel areas and the proper feeding and maintaining quality care of all shelter animals. Follows Shelter Veterinarian and Vet technicians’ specific instructions in giving, feeding specific diets or following special sanitary procedures. Performs recurring assignments independently and refers deviations or unfamiliar situations to the manager. Observes animal appearance and activity for general physical condition, obvious signs of illness, disease, and discontent. Handles animals as required and restrain animals. Walks dogs several times a day to provide exercise and time for elimination of bowels and bladder. Provides tender loving care to the shelter animals. Reports signs of illness, disease, injury, or unusual activity to vet technicians/veterinarians. Applies knowledge of normal food and liquid requirements of animals. As required, provides special food and liquids. Cleans, disinfects, and maintains kennels, cages, runs, and stalls as often as is necessary to ensure no cages or kennels are soiled and odors are not apparent. Performs general cleaning in other areas of the shelter to control the spread of disease. Washes and sterilizes water and food bowls. Launders and dries towels and blankets. Ability to supervise a team, keeping staff on task to ensure duties are being completed timely and acurately. Performs other related duties as assigned by Animal Care Manager
