About The Position

The Animal Care Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and scheduling of activities within the Animal Care Services division. This role involves training and supervising staff, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with animal control policies. The supervisor will also engage with the public and community organizations, providing education and support related to animal care and control.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Two years of experience in a field related to animal control, including one year of supervisory experience.
• Ability to obtain Euthanasia by Injection Certification within twelve months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Plans, prioritizes, and assigns daily work schedules for subordinates.
• Supervises, trains, and evaluates assigned staff members.
• Collects and prepares data for reports and presentations.
• Makes presentations to community groups and organizations.
• Monitors and coordinates the division budget.
• Reviews reports from staff and assists on difficult cases, ensuring proper follow-up action is taken.
• Prescribes forms and techniques to be used in the assigned division.
• Recommends and assists in the development and implementation of department and division policies, including animal ordinances.
• Reviews and evaluates operations and procedures and recommends improvements.
• Develops and maintains positive communications and working relationships with City Departments, outside organizations, and law enforcement personnel.
• Conducts State certified training for internal and external Animal Control agencies.
