About The Position
As an Operations Specialist in Animal Care at Petco, your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all companion animals and aquatic life in the Pet Care Center (PCC) receive proper care and husbandry. You will serve as the main resource for animal care and maintenance, supporting the PCC in achieving its budgeted sales and shrink goals. Your role will involve executing merchandising and inventory strategies, with a focus on companion animals and aquatic life, while ensuring efficient operations in collaboration with the sales team to meet the needs of guests and their pets. A passion for animal welfare and health is essential, as is the ability to work positively with the entire Pet Care Center team. In this position, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks that include ensuring appropriate care for all animals, completing maintenance and health checks, processing register transactions, and maintaining a well-stocked and presented merchandise area. You will also be expected to complete training programs to enhance your expertise and educate other team members on animal care. Promoting a culture of teamwork, inclusion, and collaboration is vital, as is adhering to operational guidelines and safety procedures. You will act as a primary resource for guests and other partners regarding animal education and care, and you will be involved in inventory management and housekeeping tasks to maintain a professional image in the PCC. Your success in this role will depend on your ability to engage with guests, utilize selling behaviors to enhance their experience, and contribute to a safe environment for partners, guests, and pets. This position requires a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of the Pet Care Center.
