About The Position

The Ranch at Blue Sky is nestled between the soaring peaks of Utah’s Wasatch and Uinta Mountain ranges, sitting on thousands of acres of some of the world’s most breathtakingly beautiful natural lands just moments from Park City. Blue Sky Utah is the ideal venue for weddings, private parties, receptions, corporate gatherings, and outdoor adventures of every kind. In addition to our event venues, we offer multiple high-end western-inspired mountain adventures on our spectacular 3,500 acres. Within the Blue Sky family, our people always find new ways to look after the business, their guests, and their teammates. The Animal Care Assistant reports directly to the Executive Director, but will take daily direction and cues from the Rehab & Training Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience working with equines and farm animals
  • Valid driver’s license required for operating ranch vehicles
  • Must be able to safely lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks including climbing, bending, reaching, walking, standing, and twisting
  • Comfortable working independently in both indoor and outdoor environments and in all weather conditions
  • Strong initiative, time management, and the ability to multitask and prioritize projects with minimal supervision
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a strong emphasis on cleanliness and efficiency
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work professionally with guests, vendors, peers, and managers
  • Commitment to Blue Sky’s Luxury Applied with Wild Abandon service philosophy, with a strong focus on delivering exceptional guest experiences
  • Availability for extended hours and on-call shifts during guest events or inclement weather
  • Positive, resourceful attitude with strong problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining safe, clean facilities for animals and guests
  • Work directly with farm animals, including horses, cows, and chickens, for guest experiences and daily animal care
  • Facilitate guest tours of the property and the Little Vaqueros Club kids camp at Gracie’s Farm
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays, as we cater to our traveling guests’ needs
  • Work directly with other departments on the Ranch/at the Lodge to coordinate guest experiences and farm needs
  • Must be highly focused on creating a luxury experience, with a desire to engage with guests to provide exceptional customer service
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Safely catch, halter, and lead horses; assist in preparing them for veterinary or farrier visits, and administer treatments as needed
  • Perform routine barn tasks such as cleaning stalls and pens, managing fly control, cleaning equipment and feed buckets, administering treatments, and filling water troughs daily
  • Daily care, cleaning, and maintenance of the chicken enclosure, including the following tasks: Letting the flock out in the morning and securing the flock back in the coop at the end of the day Cleaning and filling waterers Cleaning and filling feeders Collecting and delivering eggs Daily cleaning of nesting boxes and roosting areas Deep clean of the enclosure as directed Monitor flock health and report any concerns
