About The Position

Make a Difference in Fort Wayne – Become an Animal Care & Control Dispatcher! Position: Dispatcher Department: Animal Care & Control Pay: $26.61/hour Schedule: 12pm-8pm M-F Location: Fort Wayne, IN What You'll Do: Answer and investigate citizen complaints both in person and over the phone Dispatch Animal Control Officers using police dispatch equipment and confidential databases Investigate animal bites, enforce city ordinances, and prepare legal documents for court Process animal intake and redemption, ensuring safety for staff, animals, and the public Maintain accurate documentation and records using agency databases, mapping software, and Microsoft Office Coordinate with local police, fire, Board of Health, and other agencies as needed

Requirements

• Associate's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Affairs, Animal Science, Finance, English, Psychology, or related field OR 2 years of 911 dispatch experience
• One year of multi-tasking recordkeeping experience
• Ability to read/interpret city/state laws, write detailed reports, and handle confidential data
• Valid Indiana Driver's License and ability to obtain Spillman certification within 6 months
